Cheap flights to Colombia

Naturally, you want to find cheap flights to Colombia. Prices have improved over the years and us, the direct Medellin - Madrid flight has improved things a lot.

Below, you will find the following information:

  • recommended cheap airlines
  • ecommended connecting routes
  • price example for return flights to major Colombian destinations from Europe & U.S.
  • additional tips

Personally, I use kayak.com to search for cheap flights to Colombia. I also tend to check out the Avianca website directly, especially if flying from New York or Madrid. Avianca is the main airline of Colombia.

Cheapest Airlines

From the U.S., the following airlines offer cheap flights to Colombia:

  • Spirit Air
  • Avianca
  • American Airlines
  • Copa Airlines

From Europe, consider these airlines:

  • Iberia
  • Avianca
  • American Airlines

Best Connecting Routes From U.S.

  • Miami
  • Fort Lauderdale
  • New York
  • Houston
  • Los Angeles

Best Connecting Routes From Europe

  • Madrid
  • Paris

Buy Tickets for Connecting Flights in Bogota

It can be cheaper to buy a connecting flight at the airport in Bogota for Medellin or Cali for example, than in advance. There is of course the risk of seats being sold out.

Remember that in Colombia, domestic flights are normally more expensive than in Europe and the U.S.

Cost vs. Comfort

Getting from Europe to Medellin, can take over 24 hours door to door.

The less stops you have, the shorter and more comfortable the journey. If you plan to come only for a week, recovering from the flight and jetlag can take days.

Paying a little extra for a shorter trip can be worth it. Up to you.
