My favorite Bogota Hotel - the Estelar Fontana

The Hotel Estelar la Fontana, part of the Estelar chain, is my favorite Bogota Hotel.

There are in fact two major sections: the Estelar Fontana and Estelar Apartamentos Bogota, both within the same grounds. (Please see description for each below)

Both sections share all facilities. The overall hotel is rather large with a courtyard and small private church, a friendly bar that serves food (including the main restaurant menu if you ask for it) a good restaurant and a nice little breakfast restaurant if you want an alternative.

The food is decent and as you would expect from this type of hotel.

Located to the North of Bogota and fairly close taxi ride to Usaquen for example.

Here is the website for the Estelar Fontana where you can also browse their other hotels.

Estelar Fontana

The Estelar Fontana costs around US$ 150 per night for a double and is a bit more "elegant" than the apartments. The rooms are not particularly big, but clean and have a good feel to them as far as this type of business hotel goes.

Estelar Apartamentos Bogota

The Apartments section costs around US$ 130 per night for a double and is intended for long-term stays. The apartments come with a bedroom that is separate from a kitchen and living room. The kitchen is not very well stocked but will do. For the price, it's a good deal with plenty of space.

The apartment section of the hotel is a bit more worn than the Fontana rooms and to the back of the grounds but actually more quiet. Estelar Fontana Site

Please excuse the picture - my wife was reading in bed at the time.

They do not have a swimming pool. The hotel is situated near a major mall and Exito supermarket right across the street. It also has a well equipped gym where they give excellent massages, a dry cleaner and travel agent on the premises.

The Bogota hotel is actually divided up into the normal rooms, long-term rooms where people come if moving to Colombia or also in connection with child adoption. These rooms have adjoining kitchens and provide a safe and practical solution if staying a little longer in Bogota.

The main downside to the hotel might be its location, but that depends on where you'll be going. If you plan to go out during the night in the Parque 93 or La Macarena for example, that's a long cab ride from the hotel but for uptown meetings and Usaquen, it's a pretty good option.

The service is friendly and the buildings are really very pleasant with the possibility of walking around in the courtyards or gardens.

If you want safe, practical and good food, all at a reasonable price, this is a good option.
