Avianca Airlines is Colombia´s leading airline. Read on for more information about routes etc.

Avianca Airlines is the biggest and in my opinion, the best, of the Colombian airlines. The planes are clean, service is professional and friendly and they seem to be the most reliable.

Visit their website directly at: www.avianca.com

The following are their main routes:

To & from Europe

There are direct flights to and from Madrid in Spain from Bogota and Cali but not from Medellin.

To & from the United States

Direct international flights to & from Bogota:- Miami
- New York
- Los Angeles
- Washington DC

Direct international flights to & from Medellin:- Miami- New York

Direct international flights to & from Cartagena:- Miami

South America + Mexico

Avianca has flights in South America and Mexico including the following major destinations:

Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, Lima & Caracas.

Central America & the Caribbean

In Central America & the Caribbean, destinations include:

Panama, San Jose, Curacao, Santo Domingo & Aruba

Domestic Flights

Additionally, Avianca has a coherent network of flights in Colombia including the following destinations:

Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Cartagena, Armenia, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cucuta, Santa Marta, Manizales, Pereira, Popayan, San Andres & Providencia

Flying domestically is unfortunately not that cheap. A return ticket from Bogota to Cartagena will cost you from US$137 and up. Not too bad, but considering the distance, not that great either.

Avianca recently merged with Salvadorian Taca, making the new Holdco alliance the second largest airline in South America.
